The above requirements are minimum requirements, i.e. they assume above-average attendance at classes and at seminars. The head of the dojo decides on admission, in your best interests and with the aim of enabling you to successfully complete the passage.

3. Kyū — Grading Information

Theme

  • Confident execution of techniques
  • Visible use of the center

Preparation

  • Self-reliant grading preparation is expected, e.g. by practising with fellow candidates outside regular classes
  • If you have not already done so, sign up for a membership with the Aikido Föderation Deutschland in good time before the passage. In addition to the dojo’s mudansha book, bring the federation’s passport to the passage.

Order of the Passage

IMPORTANT: Make sure that your uke has the bokken ready when lining up!

  • Selection of techniques from the curriculum
  • Buki waza :
    • Bokken drawing (nuki) and sheathing (noto)
    • Suburi 1-3
    • Shihogiri

Each technique is shown in omote and ura alternatingly (where applicable).

‘Kotai’ (role reversal) may be called at any time.
