Basic Forms - Video Collection

The following videos show kihon waza (basic techniques) and kata forms (pre-decided movements) performed by different teachers. Most of these films were produced to aid grading preparation. In our dojo, techniques may be taught differently, but still those videos are a good starting point.

The table is structured like our grading curriculum here for easier reference.

Some techniques are also known under different names. In the table, the names used in our dojo come first, the synonyms used elsewhere are shown in a tooltip.

Our dojo has a bias towards the techniques as they are practised at the Vanadis Aikido Club. Beyond that, we recommend the instructional videos by Karl Ruben (KR) and François Pichereau (FP) for their clear and concise presentation.

The table is under constant revision. The videos listed below are from different online resources which are all publicly accessible.*

PS: Martin Bachem's "Aikimatrix" link collection, which is based on the syllabus of the German Aikido Federation, is also very helpful. There, links are filtered by teachers of the federation.
